Pizza, Hand-Pies, and More Deliciousness at Atticus Market, New Haven
The newish Atticus Market opened during COVID in the East Rock neighborhood and has been on my go-to list, so we stopped by for dessert. We intended to share some sweets but somehow managed to order a rather gorgeous-looking pizza, too. This charming spot is a combo of cafe, gourmet grocer, bakery, pizza parlor, and gift shop, with a take-out lunch and dinner case! There’s plenty of seating outside, and the sidewalk hummed with happy people chowing down on deeeelicious goodies.
We chose an apple hand pie, an Anadama cookie, and a personal-sized 1/2 pizza to share (this was AFTER our lunch at The Pearl!). What’s Anadama, you ask? Harking back to my days living north of Boston, Anadama Bread is a combo of corn, molasses, and wheat with a distinct flavor (and absolutely drool-worthy toasted with butter). Imagine a lighter version of Boston Brown Bread. The cookie is chewy and deeply flavorful, like an intense ginger, but totally addictive. I couldn’t resist a 1/2 dozen to go.
Head over to East Rock for that perfect pizza crafted by a super-talented team, and stay for the treats. Next time? The Pumpkin Kouign-amann. I hear it’s insane.
