Having grown up in a house where furniture, pillows, even my mom, me and my sisters were draped in Marimekko fabric, it’s easy to see why I was instantly seduced by See Design. CT native and ex-VP of Licensing and Design at Marimekko, Donna Gorman struck out on her own with a collection of fresh and poppy caftans, bags, scarves and sarongs. Donna paints her patterns, then sends them off to India to have them handprinted and stitched up into simple pieces that are perfect for summer 2013.

The line features kaftans and beach cover-ups from mid-thigh to maxi in a lightweight cotton voile; to heavy canvas totes, messenger and cosmetic bags (a sweet gift and a steal at $22). Good to know: caftans run on the large side. (Thanks for the tip, Hannah!)
