“It” Adventure Indoor Ropes Course in New Haven

Experience the world’s largest indoor ropes course. “It” Adventure Ropes Course, located inside Jordan’s Furniture in New Haven features two 60’ high ropes course, with over 100 activities like zig zag swinging beams, angle rope ladders, cargo nets and plank-walking. Zip Lines, 50′ free Fall Jumps, Cat Walks, Climbing Challenges and even a special ropes course for small children.

Bounce Fun Center in Clinton
Open daily
Bring the littles for Open Play in a room full of inflatables: bounce castles, houses and slides. For the slightly older set, there’s skee ball, air hockey and plenty of multi–level skill games. Comfy seating for parents with free wi-fi, tv and magazines.

Ice Skate at Foxwoods
Open Daily
Come skate seven days a week on the smooth ice of a beautiful outdoor rink, surrounded by trees bedecked in over 100,000 twinkling lights. After skating, enjoy a hot chocolate while relaxing in an Adirondack chair set by one of four outdoor fireplaces. Enjoy extended hours during February Vacation.

Nature’s Art Village in Montville
Open Daily, 10am-5pm
Plan a day trip to Nature’s Art Village, a unique Connecticut attraction. Discovery Depot, a hands-on indoor activity center, and The Dinosaur Place, a 60 acre outdoor adventure park featuring over 40 life-sized dinosaurs, a DINO-sized maze, Monty’s Playground, the Jurassic Moon Bounce & more.

Cross-Country Skiing at Winding Trails in Farmington
Open Daily, 9am-5pm
Visit Winding Trails, Connecticut’s only full-service cross country ski center. Nestled in 350 acres of majestic forest, Winding Trails provides a quick getaway into a peaceful winter wonderland, centrally located in the beautiful Farmington Valley. Winding Trails also has sledding, ice skating and snowshoeing. You can bring your own equipment, or rent equipment in the Rental Shop which features more than 200 sets of rental equipment, including skating skis.

Kidcity children’s museum is a perfect space to spend chilly winter days off with the tots. Three floors of imagination play, where kids ages 1 to 7 play pretend with their favorite grown-ups. The exhibits are handmade and one-of-a-kind, built by in-house artists.

Is the seaweed always greener? Join us as we discover the secrets of the deep blue sea. Create your own ocean floor and challenge your fellow campers to map it. You will even design a submarine to retrieve lost treasure!

Kid’s Cooking Class at White Gate
February 20, 2-4pm
Your kids will learn valuable skills and healthy eating at the Presidents’ Day Kids Cooking Class at White Gate Farm. Emily Florentino offers her popular class for kids 5 to 12. Delicious (yet healthy) kitchen creations, crafts and fun. Printed recipes encourage kids to cook at home. Food allergies cheerfully accommodated with advance notice.

Peabody Museum Two-Day February Vacation Camp

Are you looking for a fun and educational camp for your child during February school break? Camp Hazen Vacation Days in Chester
February 20 – 21, 9am-4pm
Campers from kindergarten to sixth grade choose from tons of different activities available, from Kids in the Kitchen, to Weird Science, to Adventure Camp. There is sure to be something that your child will love. Pick up and drop off is at the Bunting Dining Hall at Camp Hazen. Early drop-off and late pick-up are available.

Junior Engineers: Lego Fun at the Children’s Museum in Niantic

Children use a variety of Lego toys to build their own city, animals, or structures, and are invited use the museum’s collection of Dream-Up toys to incorporate trains into their designs! Jr. Engineers can design their very own Lego necklace to take home.

The New Britain Museum of American Art’s Family Day

The New Britain Museum of American Art will host a day filled with learning, fun, and, of course, art on Presidents’ Day. Participate in a presidential scavenger hunt, learn about Latin America during a guided tour, and create crafts inspired by the histories of North, Central, and South America!

Stained Glass Workshop at the Children’s Museum in Niantic
February 21, 8:30 am – 12pm
Join museum educator and stained glass hobbyist Ms. Sarah for a hands-on glass workshop! Students explore the wonders of glass in a child-friendly and safe environment. All glass is pre-sanded with no sharp edges. Each child creates a stained glass ornament to take home and make their own stained glass candy!

Did Bigfoot, Dragons, or the Loch Ness Monster ever really exist, have they just gone extinct, or were they simply just creatures of imagination? Join us as we investigate how scientists discover and classify new species. Are you up to the challenge? Can you study the footprint of a legend or a blurry video of a mythical beast in order to decide what fact from fiction is?

Eagle Watch and Winter Wildlife Boat Tours at the Connecticut River Museum in Essex
Thru March 19
Take your older children to observe eagles and other birds spending the winter season along the Connecticut River. Bring your camera and binoculars on the river cruise and see the glories of the river in winter. Naturalists are aboard to help spot and provide information on wildlife and hot coffee is offered in the boat’s heated cabin.
