Sweet Luna’s

I know that some things take longer than others to hit the Shoreline (independent films, mache), but I can’t for the life of me imagine why it took so long for frozen yogurt. They’re sprouting like Starbucks in the rest of the world, but finally, we’ve got our own (and I hear there are more to come). Head to Sweet Luna’s in Old Saybrook for this healthy alternative to ice cream.
At only 100 calories or so for 4 ounces, it’s a guilt free treat. Except, of course, the version I had: low fat triple chocolate and strawberry fro yo, a squirt of dairy-free orange sorbet, topped with peanuts, strawberries, a dribble of hot fudge, and, oh yes, Cap’n Crunch. Quite a mashup of flavor and texture and absolutely delish. Six flavors and vegan-friendly sorbet are on offer, along with a well-stocked toppings bar featuring native fruits. You might have to elbow the teenagers out of the way, but it’s so worth it.
