The Old Inn on the Green

No potpourri, no calico, no cheese spread–this is not your grandmother’s quaint country inn. From the candelit dining room (the public rooms are not electrified), to the locally sourced, mostly organic, innovative cuisine, to the simple yet studied decor, the Old Inn gets it right. We escaped to the Berkshires for New Year’s Eve and feasted on a seven course tasting menu (Seared Maine Scallops with Butter Poached Lobster and Roasted Loin of Monkfish Wrapped in Pancetta, among them). Crazy good.
Wake to a buffet of freshly squeezed juices, plump berries, house made pastries and French press coffee. Dinner, lodging and breakfast is a ridiculously cheap $200 for two, Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. If you’re in need of a romantic getaway, within a two-hour drive, look no further.
