My poor husband often gets an earful about the challenges I face at The E List (I mean, really, he’s diagnosing cancer and I’m writing A VERY IMPORTANT BLOG). The other day he told me, “the problem with your business model is there is no business model”. He’s a smarty pants. But he’s right. So, here I am in Austin, Texas at South by Southwest (SXSW), seeking new opportunities for The E List and getting a huge dose of inspiration. If you don’t know about SXSW, it’s a massive conference geared to new media, startups and technology. A music and film festival follows, but I’m at the Interactive sessions hoping to get a leg up on an industry that, literally, never sleeps. From an entrepreneur’s panel featuring the CEO’s of Shutterfly, The Knot and Tripadvisor, to an hour of tips from Thrillist’s CEO Ben Lerer, the Google engineer/Head of Personal Growth, Chade-Meng Tan ‘s secrets to happiness ( his Ted talk is here), and the awesome Chelsea Clinton, it’s been a mind-opening ride. There’s brilliance all around me and I’m hoping a teeny bit rubs off. More on SXSW to come, but here’s this week’s list.
