An Overnight at The Delamar Hotel & Dinner at La Plage, Mystic

Mystic is increasingly becoming a vacation hotspot, especially with the opening of the new Delamar Hotel, located right at Mystic Seaport. Last week, I took advantage of the Connecticut resident rate and zipped over for dinner and an overnight. What a treat! The hotel is smack on the river with spectacular views from every room.
The lobby, bar, and restaurant are thoughtfully designed with a nautical vibe, featuring artworks and artifacts on loan from the Seaport. La Plage, the modern American restaurant, was hopping the night we visited, with a menu that includes a mouthwatering mix of raw bar, fresh seafood, pizza, and locally sourced entrees. For apps, we chose the fresh and flavorful tuna carpaccio with a squeeze of lemon, and the clam pizza to share. We then feasted on “Shrooms and Grits,” a delectable vegetarian dish of Seacost mushroom and Anson Mills grits, and a plentiful plate of crispy beer-battered fish and chips accompanied by colorful cocktails! It’s a lively spot and a great addition to the already buzzy restaurant scene in Mystic. Plus, you can’t beat the views. The expansive riverside terrace will be opening soon for al fresco dining.
My room was equipped with everything needed for a cozy stay, including a sweet seating area to enjoy a Nespresso in the morning while taking in that stunning river view. The comfy bed provided the best night’s sleep I’ve had in a long time, and I loved the luxurious marble and white oak bathroom. Breakfast is included, and I dove into the buffet laden with Sift’s award-winning croissants and pecan rolls. Admission to Mystic Seaport is free with an overnight stay.
