Authentic Eats at Land of Thai in Clinton
On a recent pandemic-purge-donation-dropoff at Goodwill on Route 1 in Clinton (yes, they are taking donations!) my interest was piqued by a bright yellow banner that read “THAI FOOD” in a teeny complex across the street. I thought I’d take the Pad Thai for a spin so I did an easy curbside pickup and took it to the Westbrook beach for a quiet lunch. With its perfect blend of heat and spice, it was one of the best renditions I’ve had in years. Unable to shake the craving for more, I called in a hearty order for the whole family just days later. We all noshed on tender, sweet and sticky Thai BBQ glazed ribs with carrots, broccoli, and cilantro. I devoured my old favorite, Laab Salad – scrumptious lettuce leaves filled with ground chicken, toasted rice powder, lemongrass, mint, red onion, and cilantro, tossed with a spicy lime dressing. The vegetarian Yellow Curry is a tasty and bright medley of fresh broccoli, green beans, zucchini, carrots, and potatoes with velvety coconut milk and warm, spicy curry. The portions are more than generous and we ate leftovers for days. If you are on the fence about spiciness, dial back your order because these dishes definitely pack some heat. Loads of options for Vegan and Gluten-Free. I am looking forward to making my way through the entire menu!
The staff is attentive and friendly and ordering online for pickup is simple. The interior is sweet and simple with plenty of space to safely distance plus picnic tables outside. Closed Mondays.
