Bricco, West Hartford
Sitting on the brick patio at Bricco and watching the West Hartford world go by made Tax Day bearable. And the menu turned that quick infatuation into true love: so many delights to choose from! I settled on the chopped Kale salad — if a restaurant can massage this rugged roughage into something tender and tasty then they have my vote. An app of whipped ricotta with local honey and sea salt totally called my name. As did my other obsession: creamy burrata with beets, poached pears, candied walnuts and arugula. The pizzas passing my table looked fresh and delish and caused a pang of regret that I was not throwing calories to the wind and ordering the Fig Pie with a trio of cheeses. Luckily my salad arrived before I could change my mind: perfectly dressed, with just the right amount of cranberries, sunflower seeds and crunchy focaccia croutons. At 8.50, it seemed like a bargain. Bricco was the perfect lunch stop during a day of shopping West Hartford. Can’t wait to go back for dinner!
