DORO Marketplace, A Mediterranean Influenced All-Day Eatery Opens in Old Saybrook

This new eatery in Old Saybrook, owned by the team behind the excellent West Hartford-based restaurants Treva, A’vert Brasserie, and Zohara, (plus Artisanal Burger Company, Casadoro, and No Mames and two DORO Markets) offers a much-needed addition to the town. The concept is a community marketplace with racks of freshly baked (sourdough) loaves, trays laden with croissants and donuts, and displays of gorgeous pastries.  Yes, they have all manner of coffee drinks and breakfast treats, but what I’m most excited about here is lunch. The nutritious menu of bowls and salads with protein additions is something that is sorely missing around here.

The Doro Bowl, a pile of roasted Freebird chicken, smashed avocado, roasted corn, pickled onions, cherry tomatoes, green rice, and chimichurri, makes a wholesome mid-day meal, while the Salmon Caesar (available lightly, regular, or heavily dressed!) was a perfect picnic dinner at the beach. Pinsa, a square-cut pizza, is tasty any time of day, and I’ll be ordering the rotisserie chicken on the regular. Choose sides like truffled roasted potatoes and a Caesar Salad (the macaroni and cheese is DELISH), and you’ve got a healthy family dinner on the table.

Good to know if you travel North: Casadoro, on the Berlin Turnpike in Newington and No Mames in Wethersfield are the DORO Group’s latest ventures and fans are already buzzing about the exciting menus and great service.

Eat-in or take-out, plenty of seating, plus patio seating available.
