Drama Works Theatre Company in Old Saybrook will be presenting Barrymore in October.
It’s 1942, and in an effort to revive his reputation as a serious actor, John Barrymore rents a stage to rehearse for a comeback performance as Richard III. It is one month before his death.
Barrymore spars with his promptor, tells stories about the famous, makes fun of his siblings, Lionel and Ethel, and shares his most private thoughts with his imagined audience.
Get ready for a specular night of theatre and a tour de force for Christy Max Williams who plays Barrymore. Frank, the prompter is played by Frank DiCaro. The play is directed by Ed Wilhelms.
