What Is Yoga Therapy? Learn What Yoga Therapy Can Do For You on Global Yoga Therapy Day
Wednesday August 14th at
640 Health Therapies in Westbrook
Gerri Jardine, a Yoga Therapist certified by the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT), will give an introductory talk and an open, live demonstration of Yoga Therapy techniques. Information from IAYT will be available.
Yoga Therapy employs ancient and modern techniques of Yoga, Ayurveda, Energy Work, Body Talk, and Intuition to address ailments affecting the Body, Mind and Spirit. Practices may include a single Yoga tool given for a specific purpose or any combination of movement (asana), breathwork (pranayam), sound (mantra), symbols held by the body (mudra), simple meditations, posture care and adjustment, tapping, pressure points, self-massage, and centering.
Yoga Therapy is usually practiced one-to-one. However, couples, family groups, or small gatherings of people with similar goals are also served by the practice of Yoga Therapy.
