Madison Lyric Stage presents Freedom: The Music of George Michael and Elton John

Celebrating the musical legacies of two pop legends, Madison Lyric Stage, a professional non-profit theater company, will present Freedom: The Music of George Michael & Elton John on May 4 and 5. In this concert salute, tenor Marc Deaton and special guests will pay tribute to two of the greatest pop and rock icons of all time. Audiences can expect a dynamic showcase featuring chart-topping singles, heart-touching ballads, and an infectious energy that spanned decades.
Deaton will be joined by singers Seth Allen, Meera Menillo, Theo Zucconi, as well as special guest John Johmann. Pianist Nathaniel Baker leads a rock band, performing iconic hit songs including: Careless Whisper, Rocket Man, Candle in the Wind, Faith, Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me, Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, I’m Still Standing, Circle of Life, Crocodile Rock, Wake Me You Before You Go-Go, and, of course, Freedom.
“With a carefully curated setlist that spans decades of hits, the concert will transport the audience through the evolution of these music icon’s careers,” said Marc Deaton, artistic director of Madison Lyric Stage. “From George Michael’s soulful melodies to Elton John’s timeless piano-driven anthems, Freedom promises to be a journey through pop and rock history.”
Tickets are $40 and are available at madisonlyricstage.org. The concert will be held Saturday at 7:00 pm and Sunday at 4:00 pm at the historic Deacon John Grave House, located at 581 Boston Post Road in Madison.
