Fried Chicken & Biscuits at Edd’s Place

In my opinion, fried chicken is the perfect picnic food, and I get mine at Edd’s Place. These crispy, boneless breasts (I won’t call them fingers!) are simply the best and served with a freshly buttered warm biscuit. Sides of creamy potato salad and tangy slaw are essential. Owner Liz Wood bought this casual riverside spot when Edd retired and has truly made it her own.

All the treats in the case, from “hostess cupcakes” to gluten-free chocolate cake, are freshly baked every morning, and the menu ranges from hot dogs to lobster pie. You can take out your selections or enjoy them at the picnic tables by the river (there’s covered dining, too) and feast on the generous portions. We couldn’t resist the mini lobster pie, a flaky crust filled with chunks of lobster in a velvety bisque (an excellent idea for a last-minute and lush dinner party!).

If you’re entertaining a crowd, order from the catering menu, and Liz can provide delivery and servers, too. Dinner is offered on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Definitely on our summer bucket list!

Hours: Tuesday & Wednesday: 7am – 3pm, Thursday & Friday: 7am – 9pm (dinner), Saturday 8am – 9pm (dinner) and Sunday 8am – 3pm.
