Centerbrook Architects Lecture Series, Garden Design in the Country House Era, 5/17: New York Landscape Architect Tracey Miller will present a lively overview of residential landscape and garden design through the lens of three iconic designs from the late nineteenth century. The Garden Club of Madison’s Annual Plant Sale, 5/18: Held on the grounds of the Deacon John Grave House, 581 Boston Post Road on the Saturday after Mother’s Day, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (rain or shine). Profits from the plant sale will benefit the Garden Club of Madison’s Community Beautification Projects. Click here to learn more.

Westbrook Garden Club’s Annual May Market and Plant Sale 5/18: from 8:30 am to 1 pm at Westbrook Town Hall. The sale includes annuals, vegetables, garden gifts, and member plants. Proceeds go to town beautification, scholarships and gardening programs open to the public. More info here.

A New Perspective on Container Gardening at the Hollister House  5/25:  In this illustrated presentation, learn to use containers in the landscape to enhance and extend seasonal beauty, produce food and help create an authentic sense of place.  The presentation will be followed by a hands-on demonstration.

Mystic Garden Club Plant Sale, 6/1: The Friends of the Mystic Noank Library will hold its 40th Annual Spring Fair, rain or shine. There will be plants for sale from the Mystic Garden Club, books, Franklin’s fudge, a White Elephant tent, baked goods, and kids activities. There will be music to keep you moving and the Mystic Garland dancers will perform. There will be hot dogs and soup from Mystic Soup Co. and more.  This event is free and open to all. Estate Walk, CT Trails Day at the Hillstead Museum, 6/2: Explore the magnificent Hillstead Estate. Enjoy guided walks from the hilltop gardens to the pond, fields and barn while enjoying the splendid views. Click here to learn more.

The Language of Flowers from the Renaissance to the Present at the Hillstead Museum, 6/9: Wear your best garden party attire for a luncheon and lecture in the Makeshift Theater followed by a reception in the Sunken Garden (weather-dependent). Click here to learn more.

Annual Garden Luncheon and Gardenfest at the Florence Griswold Museum, 6/14: Kick off Gardenfest 2019 with art, music, farm to table food and flowers at Flo Gris. Garden party attire suggested, hats recommended. More info here.

Through the Garden Gate: A Tour of Historic Homes and Gardens, 6/15: The Ivoryton Library is thrilled to offer its 5th Historic Home and Garden Tour. This walking tour of 8 lovely and unique homes in Ivoryton and Centerbrook, each with distinctive garden shapes, offers visitors a feel for the renewal of Spring with the long-awaited blooms, colors, and the beauty of summer gardens.

Madison Historical Society’s Tour of Remarkable Homes, 6/23: Explore five of Madison’s most unique private residences. Each home is remarkable for its age, size, location, or distinctive architecture and landscaping. The homes can be visited in any order and at your own pace. Find out more.

A Night Under the Stars The Lyman Allyn, 5/18: The gala is one of the Museum’s largest and most important annual fundraising events. Evening festivities include a silent and live auction, followed by an elegant seated dinner. Bid on an array of artwork, decorative furnishings, memorable experiences, travel, fantastic dining opportunities and more. All proceeds benefit the Museum’s daily operations and education programs.

CT River Museum’s Riverfare, 6/6: The unofficial kickoff to Summer on the Shoreline, CRM’s annual fundraiser RiverFare is a gourmet food and drink tasting event on the Museum’s riverfront lawn. Numerous local caterers and restaurants vendors provide delicious samples of their culinary talents for patrons, as well as tastings from breweries and wineries of the River Valley.
