Through Hotel Tonight, I snagged a double/double at Hotel Chandler, on 31st Street, for $199. Local Essex, CT/NYC Interior Designer Jane Capellini just completed the overhaul of the lobby and it’s a subtle, soothing oasis of taupe and gray. In the morning, I grabbed a cup of coffee from the lobby bar and headed to the fireplaced library to watch the news on the giant flatscreen. This is a lovely, homey but elegant spot to make a phone call or crack a book. The rooms, while not quite as fresh as the lobby, are perfect for a longer haul: tons of closet space, a bay window, efficient work desk; even an ironing board in a murphy-bed disguise. An extremely comfortable hideaway in midtown. Juni, a restaurant by Michelin-starred chef, Shaun Hergatt is set to open next month.
