Local Love & Lunch at Grey Goat Farmtique, Branford

Like most folks who live around here, we try to avoid 95 in the summer, but there were a few new shops and restaurants in Branford on our radar, so we headed west.

Our first stop was the Grey Goat Farmtique for lunch. This slightly kooky shop and cafe, housed in an unassuming brick building on N. Branford Road, presents a mix of local products, gift items, lunch, and…cocktails!

The limited but appetizing menu offers small bites, salads, soups, and sandwiches. Fans of deviled eggs will flock here: choose from a flight of three different daily flavors (we loved the lemon and the beet with goat cheese), making for a tasty and high-protein power lunch.

The Bacon and Chicken Cutlet Club and the Deviled Chef salad are not to be missed. It was a bit too early for the Sangria offered, so we settled on a refreshing and healthful Elderberry Mocktail as the dining area filled up fast with clutches of women meeting for lunch or snacks. Owner Jonathan Hunt managed to keep everything moving all by himself and seemed to know everyone in the place by name. A sweet spot.
