Salon Refuge

While many Shoreline towns are rife with empty storefronts, it’s happy news to see Branford’s Main Street filling up again. I stopped in at the new Salon Refuge and discovered a loft-like space with original tin ceilings, silver cement walls, and chairs far enough apart to encourage gossiping with your stylist. Prices are reasonable too, as owner, Nicole Hitchcock, is bent on providing quality without the commensurate cost. Cuts hover in the $50 range, and a single process color is $45. Kids start at $12. Products are thoughtfully chosen: Label M., their preferred line, is a division of Tony & Guy. I was seduced by the Sea Salt Spray, images of sunbleached, tousled hair dancing through my head. My hair is all of an inch long, but this product manages to bring an element of beachy texture to my cropped locks. Say you saw it on The E List and give Salon Refuge a try. Take $20 off any service of $60 or more through November 15, 2010.
