While Montauk shopping pales in comparison to the schmancy boutiques of Easthampton, it’s appropriately quirky. Plenty of tea shirt and surf shops, but these four boutiques were stand outs.

There’s a great retail mind behind *Share With’s hyper-curated collection of ethical brands that use sustainable materials. Here you’ll find the real-deal striped tees from Le Minor of Brittany, beach dresses by Tracy Feith, Maguba handmade Swedish clogs and Tata Harper’s 100% natural and non-toxic skin care collection.

It’s easy to shoot right by the signless Melet Mercantile in a nondescript building on the road to Navy Beach.The Peruvian fedoras lined up on the fence tipped me off. Inside you’ll find a warehouse jammed with museum quality vintage from original Bob Marley tees to authentic Hawaiian shirts and stacks of levi jeans. The odd and curious collections of 60’s and 70’s memorabilia are displayed with a curator’s eye. This level of authenticity doesn’t come cheap, prices are high, but no doubt you’ll leave with something you’ll never come across again and can’t live without. (no website)

Surf Bazaar at the Surf Lodge, 183 S. Edgemere Street

Stop by Surf Lodge to check out the ultra-hip surroundings (sister property to Ruschmeyer’s), have a drink on the pond, and pick up a beachy tunic, bikini or friendship bracelet. Loved the vintagey feel of the tees by Local Knit, sporting logos of Montauk’s iconic local businesses.

Gansett Lane Home, 6 South Etna Avenue

Gansett Lane Home‘s tagline is Barefoot Luxury Living and that about sums it up. White cotton sofas, blue ikat pillows and oversized wooden slabs fashioned into coffee tables, left me wishing I could like like this. But I can’t (kid, husband, dog). Lovely hostess gifts, too.
