It’s good to know that Guilford’s got more than a handful of shops and eateries with serious staying power. And, in addition to longevity, there’s always something fresh to be found, not to mention top quality products and old school service. Some stalwarts:

Since 1939, Page Hardware has had much more to offer than just the best quality paint and hardware. You’ll find everything from top brand appliances and cookware (SubZero, Bosch, All-Clad) to beach bags, kitchen linens and lawn chairs.

Who needs a supermarket when there’s fresh, local and organic right on Route 1?  Bishop’s has a bounty of fresh produce, their very own wine, ice cream, cider, extensive cheese department and a fresh bakery.  Head here for seasonal pick-your-own and wine tastings.

We’re not vegan, raw foodies or gluten-free but we still love to shop at Food Works for much more than organic produce and bulk goods. We’re fascinated by the cases of frozen foods and desserts, plus scrumptious smoothies from the good folks at JuiceWorks. It’s our go-to for healthy household and beauty products including Solavedi, a local Guilford Ayurvedic line.

When we’re in search of gifts, we can count on MIX for modern, high design and Flutterby for thoughtful and inspired goods.  And Breakwater Books is always a favorite for an afternoon of old-school book browsing.
