The Nest Coffee House, Deep River

If you’re looking for a warm and friendly place to escape for a latte or tasty snack, The Nest Coffee House is a welcome spot to do so. I dropped in with a friend recently and we treated ourselves to caffe and matcha lattes with oat milk and nibbled on a delightful slice of spinach and feta quiche.

In addition to a variety of tasty lattes, baked goods, and ice cream, this cozy cafe on Deep River’s Main Street has a very important mission. They provide jobs for young adults with autism and other intellectual disabilities. The Nest is a program of the non-profit organization, A Little Compassion (also headquartered in Deep River) and in their own words, “At The Nest, we understand that finding your place in the world can be tough– especially during the formative young adult years – and it is even tougher for a young adult with autism, an intellectual or developmental disability. ALC has set out to make that journey smoother by creating employment and social opportunities for these young adults in our midst who need an opportunity to shine.”

You can feel the compassion and dedication in this place. It’ll be a regular stop for us for sure.

Check The Nest’s FB page for lots of events and gatherings for both teens and adults.
