Valentine’s Day To Go!

Lots of our favorite restaurants are running tempting takeout (and eat-in) Valentine’s Day specials. Here’s what we found by press time:

Lobster beignets, filet mignon, chocolate fondue and even a Feed The Kids Early dinner are among the delicacies at Gourmet Galley. Pick up or delivery.

I’d be totally satisfied with making dinner out of River Tavern’s famous date pudding with caramel sauce, but the ever-evolving seasonal menus always provides something delicious to eat!

Bar Bouchee in Madison is offering a 3-course prixe fix of their classic French fare for V-Day.

My family thinks Cafe Routier has the best steak frites on the Shoreline (those fries!!!) and that’s likely on our short list this Valentine’s Day.

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Ice Cream or Rose Petal Sorbet at Honey Cone Craft Ice Cream in Chester.

Valentine’s dinner at The Essex includes Surf and Turf dinner for two: 2 beef wellingtons with sauce chausseur, lobster Thermidor, cauliflower bisque, potato gratin and chocolate tasting desserts, plus a bottle of prosecco for $150.

Fresh Salt at Saybrook Point Inn has an extensive Valentine’s menu including a full raw bar, and interesting entrees including wild boar bolognese, wild mushroom risotto, pepper-crusted venison, cioppino, lobster pot pie, and more. Valentine’s Day brunch to stay or to go, too.

Pick up dinner for two by Chef Paul Barron in Madison, including a French cheese plate, Maine Lobster Salad, Short Rib Beef Wellingtons, Valrhona Chocolate Pot de Creme, and a bottle of sparkling rose. $175.

The Griswold Inn is offering take-out or eat-in for V-day, either prix fixe or a la carte, including pan seared scallops, filet of beef and a chef’s chocolate tasting. Three courses for $60.

Grab lobster Mac and Cheese and chocolate or cheese fondue for the whole family at Ballou’s in Guilford.

The Marketplace at Guilford Food Center is offering a three-course dinner to go for $45, including Winter Citrus & Burrata Salad, Lamb Osso Bucco, a chocolate heart torte and plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options, too.

The Copper Beech Inn’s Valentine’s menu for eat-in or take out includes Escargots, Oyster Vichyssoise, Branzino, Roasted Duck and more delicacies. A la carte pricing.

Simon’s Marketplace is teaming with Ani’s Table again this month to offer an elegant Prixe Fixe boxed dinners for two including Salmon Wellington, Braised Short Rib, Red Velvet Whoopie Pies and more.

And a little something sweet from Hen & Heifer in Guilford (pictured, photo courtesy of Hen & Heifer) These chocolate  shortbread hearts are crisp, buttery, and rolled extra thick, then glazed in dark chocolate and garnished with plump dried cherries, a shower of fruity pink peppercorns, a touch of Himalayan pink salt and packaged for gifting!
