Vintage Treasures at Monger’s Market, Bridgeport

Treasure hunters will have a field day at Monger’s Market. This mammoth warehouse in Bridgeport is only open on Sundays, and it’s the perfect road trip for antique collectors of all kinds. After weaving through stalls brimming with oversized commercial lighting, stacks of steamer trunks, and yards of wooden beams, you’ll come upon aisles packed with individual sellers, and depending on your interests, you’re sure to stumble on something you can’t live without! Lots of vintage furniture from French provincial to mid-century and trendy 70’s prized Danish Dansk Cobenstyle, original Le Creuset, glassware, tchotchkes, stacks of lived-in Levi’s, racks of vintage clothing, and anything you can think of (so tempted by the trophies!) collectors will find it here.

A baker’s rack stuffed with old Irish knit sweaters in fantastic condition had my name on it; we spent a nostalgic moment flipping through LPs from the seventies and enjoyed the thrill of the hunt for nothing specific! The prices are excellent and the pickings range from quirky (1950’s pointy bras) to exquisite (French leather chair club chairs).

Plan to spend at least a couple of hours to explore the entire market and be sure to go early to get onsite parking. $3 cash only entry fee.
