Wee Faerie Village Whimsical Kingdoms
The transformation of the Florence Griswold Museum’s grounds into this annual Wee Faerie Village installation is nothing less than a phenomenon. Twenty-four artists have contributed their vision of a castle, tower or palace for Whimsical Kingdoms, the 2015 theme. The museum’s campus is stunning this time of year and this exhibit is NOT just for children. Pick a gorgeous fall day, bring the kids, grandkids (or not) and revel in the tiny kingdom. Make sure to leave time for lunch at Cafe Flo overlooking the Lieutenant River. For me, it’s the most scenic al fresco dining on the Shoreline. You’ll find lots of faerie-centric events on the calendar, from a creative artisan fair (Billie Beads fans will be happy to find them here), double discount days for members in the shop stocked with all things faerie (get a head start on the holidays!), and crafting parties. Budding bakers can get in the mix with a Castle Cake Contest. Head inside the galleries for The Artist in the Connecticut Landscape, with works from the Museum’s collection. There are a few tickets still available For Twilight on the Terrace, the Flo Gris’ annual gala this Saturday, September 26th, featuring a seated dinner by River Tavern and dancing to Eight to the Bar. Hope to see you there! Wee Faerie Village Special Event admission $15, but kids under 12 are free! Find more Wee Faerie Special events here.
