Easter and Passover fall on the same weekend this year, and my daughter is not coming home for the first time ever. It never occurred to me that she might eventually go to her boyfriend’s family. Oy! Yes, we’ve always celebrated both, with Easter being this Jewish girl’s favorite holiday. We held massive Easter egg hunts for years and feasted on ham, mac and cheese, and my version of an Easter cake (split a storebought Angel food in half and pile on whipped cream and macerated strawberries. Martha Stewart bakes a much more elegant version, see below). For Passover, I make a brisket from an old foolproof Silver Palate recipe (Nach Waxman’s Brisket) and everybody’s favorite Potato Kugelettes. This year, I’ll be getting my Matzo Ball soup locally (and improbably) from the new Long River Farm in Old Lyme. It’s fantastic! We’ve rounded up where to go out and where to get fixings for the Spring holidays on this list.
