A Round-Up of Not-So-Classic White Shirts

Horrors! It’s almost fall! We’re ready to ditch the flowy dresses and flip-flops, but what to wear for the shoulder season now that summer extends through October? My transitional wardrobe has barely changed over the years: a great white shirt, jeans, and a blazer. Since Covid, I’ve had little use for a blazer, so I’ve switched it up for a more casual cardigan. I go straight from espadrilles to ankle boots, but this year, I’m on the hunt for the perfect loafer (and I’ll let you know when I find it). In the meantime, I’ve rounded up a bevy of white shirts as a transitional base layer.

Update your white shirt collection with this cute style that’s made for a blazer with the ruffle cuff peaking out: Alex Mill Easy Ruffle White Shirt in paper poplin: $135

A tunic is a fresh take on a classic white button-down: $120

I’ve owned this white denim shirt for five years and it’s still my go-to with jeans. Destroyed hem, built-in wrinkles, and just the right button placement. Worth the money: $258

A sexy closet staple, the relaxed white silk shirt to dress up or down$150

I’m always a fan of a dramatic tie-neck blouse! From Anthropologie: $110

Garment-dyed cotton poplin shirt with sweet details: shirring at front and back yoke, and patch pockets from J. Crew: Currently $59.50

An oversized deep vee cotton popover from Bloomingdales: $78
