A Transitional Wardrobe for Spring 2022
After a second winter of sweats, I’m so ready to put on real clothing. Sometimes you’ll even find me visiting my wardrobe in my closet just because it’s lonely! And yes, I don’t need a thing, but after an entire career in fashion, it’s hard not to update a little bit seasonally. Here’s my current wishlist:
1. I am crazy about these jeans. They’re just like what I wore in the 80’s. I bought them oversized and baggy and I cuff the bottom. They’re a nice lightweight organic cotton, which will carry them through summer. This colorway is slightly distressed, and I might back them up with the darker denim. Currently $62 on sale.
2. I love this lightweight silk blouse for some springy color to wear with jeans. Also comes in a pretty blue and white print. Size down, it runs very large. $129
3. It is yet again the season of the clog and what’s more classic than a nude leather? These Swedish hand-made babies are available in a slew of colors and a couple of heel heights. $189.
4. I’ve been living in these lighter-weight Ponte pants during my recuperation from spinal surgery. They have a comfy elastic waist, slash pockets and a slim, but not skinny, leg. Great for travel, too. A steal at $69.
5. I’m very much a high-low dresser and my two favorite white tees right now are these. Both are soft cotton and slightly distressed. The loose crew neckline, fitted shoulder, and looseness around the tummy make this expensive-but-worth-it ATM tee a perennial favorite and they’re finally making it in short sleeves (black also). $105
6. I am a sneaker fanatic and these are my spring picks. They’ll look so cute with baggy jeans and the Chanel-style jacket above, or a cotton summer dress. $155
7. I snagged this Chanel-inspired jacket and I’m going to wear it exactly as shown, with a white tee and my baggy jeans. But it will also be a useful piece if I ever need to get dressed up again. Classic. $179. Again, this runs large, size down.
8. I can’t wait to get my hands on this super simple laptop bag. I bought it through Madewell but it’s crafted by a small maker with thoughtful details. There’s something so fresh and easy about natural canvas (not to mention lighter than leather). $200
9. If the Chanel jacket is too lady-like, give this adorable pea coat from Imogene and Willie (a beloved Nashville brand) a go: Love the bracelet length sleeve, perfectly placed pockets, and stretchy fabric.
10. HOW am I ever going to wear real shoes again after two years in slippers? (These were my go-to’s during recovery, a slipper shoe water-resistant hybrid. $55
Also, if you’re on the hunt for a well-priced basic cotton crew, look no further than this (currently $14.96)
