A Very Short List, 7/29/15

Because August 1st is National Girlfriend’s Day, I thought I’d pass along some important information to ALL my girlfriends! I recently attended an informative luncheon about new tools for detecting breast cancer. At my last mammogram at Middlesex Hospital’s Women’s Imaging Center at Shoreline Medical Center in Westbrook, I experienced the brand new technology firsthand. Not only was I in and out of there in 15 minutes (!), it was fascinating to see the 3D mammogram. In a nutshell, the new 3D imaging finds cancers missed by conventional 2D mammography, resulting in a 40% increase in invasive cancer detection. That means cancer is identified while it’s too small to see on conventional mammography, and the earlier cancer is diagnosed, the better the outcome. If you’ve been putting off your mammogram for any reason, please make an appointment for a screening. Here’s a helpful infographic on recommended checkups that women need to make their health a priority throughout their lifetime, plus more info on how to schedule your mammogram. P.S. The E List team is on vacation this week, but there were a few things I just had to share.
