There’s no denying that we have limited restaurant offerings in Old Lyme, so we were excited to hear about a new Mexican take-out! Papi’s Taqueria opened recently in the Old Lyme Plaza (across from the Big Y marketplace). This tiny spot has already garnered quite a following. On the day I checked it out, a line of hungry taco tasters were buzzing about which combo was best. Well, I ordered some of (almost) everything: Carnitas, grilled chicken, Al Pastor, and Mahi Mahi “street tacos” on homemade tortillas, plus a selection of sides including rice and beans, plantains, fresh chips, salsa, queso, and guac. Burritos, tortas, taquitos, quesadillas, tostadas and salads round out the menu.

The meal was tasty and authentic, and prices are great (3 tacos for $10 on Taco Tuesday). I had to DRAG myself away from the queso! Planning a last-minute party? Head here for your feast.
