Since the closure of the Old Lyme Ice Cream Shop, Lyme Street has been missing a spot to grab a quick bite—until now. Cafe Laurel, an offshoot of the popular destination café in Killingworth, has settled into the Nightingale Acoustic Café, the beloved live music venue in the heart of town.

The cozy space serves breakfast and lunch, with a menu full of appealing choices. I devoured a ham, brie, and arugula sandwich with fig jam on a fresh baguette, and on a return visit, a healthy and delish smoothie hit the spot. Expect breakfast sandwiches and bowls, avocado toasts, fresh salads, sandwiches, daily specials, baked treats, and gluten-free offerings. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; closed Mondays.
