CT Farm Fresh, an organic and straight off-the- farm-to-your-kitchen delivery service has been around for years. During the summer when we have easy access to farmers’ markets, I have to admit, I forget all about it. But come late fall, when the markets shut down for the season, it’s a handy service, and even better around the holidays. I generally do my Thanksgiving shopping in bits and pieces to save myself (and my shoulders) from so much shlepping. And I torture my family yearly with the proposal of take-out (so many great options abound, see ours here), but one bite of my husband’s challah stuffing and you’ll see why we host it every year. This season, I’m considering ordering all the heavy stuff, from sweet potatoes and Yukon golds to the big bird, from CT Farm Fresh.

I did a test run this week of the “Harvest Box” and came home to an interesting assortment of edibles: cider, mustard greens, apples, a box of tomatillos (and a recipe for tomatillo salsa was included; so smart), peppers, beets, shallots, a pumpkin, cider and more, even a jar of those fantastic local crushed tomatoes by Cecarelli Farms! While the Harvest Box is for the adventurous foodie (you won’t know in advance what you’re getting), you can of course, order whatever you’d like individually, whether it’s organic produce, grass fed meats, local cheeses or even ready-to-eat meals. Pies (regular and gluten free), rolls, fresh greens and Ekonk Hill Turkeys will also be available for Thanksgiving. Turkeys must be ordered by noon on November 14th, but go browse the CT Farm Fresh website, and order your groceries for delivery to your doorstop on November 20th or 21st,  just in time to start prepping the feast.
