High/Low Transition Essentials

I used to sport a trusty blazer come September, but since the pandemic, I’m more of a cardigan girl. In fact, it’s hard to get me out of the “cardigan, tee, jeans, sneakers” uniform, but at least it’s replaced my Covid outfit of sweats. I’m giving it a lift this year by adding a classic silk shirt, and trading sneakers for loafers. Here are my high/low picks, whether you’re in the mood to indulge or save.

HIGH

High 1: A classic navy silk shirt is a sexy wardrobe staple and here’s a great one by Vince: $325

Low 1 (below): Or choose a less dear striped version from Everlane (and you might want to grab this in several colors): $150

High 2: A dangly charm necklace is the right sexy touch for that silk shirt and I’ve been ogling this Monica Kozan one for YEARS. Maybe one day I’ll splurge: 18K from $3500

Low 2 (below): Here’s a great stand-in for $195

High 3: Wide-leg jeans are not for me, but this season I’ve traded in my straight legs for a mini boot in dark denim; chic with heels or kicks. Frame denim is expensive but their fit is tried and true: $265

Low 3 (below): Lucky for me, Gap jeans fit me just fine and I added these skinny mini boot to my fall wardrobe: $79.95

High 4: A cozy, oversized cabled cardigan you’ll wear on the daily from Jenni Kayne: $425

Low 4 (below): Or go for this equally sweet but much less pricey version from J. Crew: $168

Swap your sneakers for comfy and classic lug sole loafers:

High 5: $495 by Aquatalia

Low 5 (below): $158 by Madewell
