Loveridge Place, Westerly & Pawcatuck
There’s no shortage of excellent bakeries in these parts, but newcomer Loveridge Place is a must stop. Known for flaky croissants and Viennoiserie, it’s a sweet spot for breakfast (offering a variety of croissant sandwiches), but even better for takeaway lunch and simply stunning cakes. We tried a heavenly lemon teacake, a nectarine tart, and an airy individual Boston Cream Pie.
I grabbed a zucchini lasagna (gluten-free) for dinner, and I’ve got to beg the recipe from owner Carla Gennuso. The original bakery is at 2 Prospect Street in Pawcatuck, and there’s a cute new outpost right near the Margin Street Inn on Main Street. Perfect for picnicking as you’ll find a cheese shop and wine store right next door!
