Dinner with A View at Marker 37 in Chester

There’s nothing we love better than dinner on the water, and the new Marker 37 is a happy addition to dining spots with a view. The site is simply gorgeous with expansive outdoor (and indoor seating) and sweeping views of the Connecticut River. Wind your way through Chester to Railroad Ave and cross the tracks. Then, head toward the brand new white building between the marinas, and grab the first parking spot you see.

Plan an early dinner as the wait can be up to an hour. No matter, though, as there are riverfront couches for lounging and cocktails to be had while you wait. The menu has something for everyone (typical for waterfront eateries), but I’d stick to the basics here. A burger came perfectly cooked with crispy fries, and a pile of onion strings quickly disappeared. Grilled shrimp wrapped in prosciutto was a tasty app, and next time we’ll pick from a list of tacos, sandwiches, and salads. It was opening week, so we need to give the kitchen a little time to get it down, but our server Meg was a delight, and drinks were copious and interesting. The Georgia Peach Smash with bourbon, peach puree, lemon juice, and bitters was an unusual order for me but just the right mix of seafaring and summer.

We appreciate every outing that much more these days. Good friends, a front-row water view, and an ending of a delish white and dark chocolate mousse made for a perfect summer evening.

No reservations.
