I think some of you know that I had the opportunity to interview Nicholas Sparks for his book launch at The Garde Arts Center in front of 1400 of his fans last week. What you probably don’t know, is that I’m terrified of public speaking. I agreed to do this months ago, mainly because I know the only way to get better at something is to practice. And my fears are unfounded. Especially, in this case, they were coming to see Nicholas, not me. So, I got down to business, reading his books (prior to this event I hadn’t read any!), watching his movies, and essentially getting to know him. I worked and reworked my questions, trying to concoct a few he may not have been asked before (ha! After twenty book tours, there’s nothing this guy hasn’t heard). The upshot? All went swimmingly.
