Outdoor Yoga

Ready to take your yoga practice outdoors? Here’s my list:

My favorite yoga experience was Full Moon Yoga to benefit Recovery Yoga at the Ocean House. This year, join yogis of all levels on 7/22 at the Ocean House Beach at 7:30 for an evening of yoga, live music provided by Will Evans of Barefoot Truth and fire dancing! Recovery Yoga provides free yoga programs in residential and rehabilitative facilities, primarily for women and teens working to recover from substance, physical or other abuse, or who are at risk or otherwise in need people in treatment or incarcerated. Find out more at: $30 in advance, $35 at the event.

Yoga on the Beach at Hammonasset Beach State Park kicks off on Sunday, July 14th at 9am. Carolyn Murphy will lead an all levels class. Meet at Meigs Point Nature Center. FREE!  For more info call (203) 245-2785.

Carolyn also teaches a Saturday morning class at 9am on the beach at the Mercy Center in Madison (167 Neck Road). The class is held indoors in inclement weather. Bring a mat. No class on 7/6.

Down Dog Paddle Yoga offers SUP Yoga, Paddlefit and Full Moon Paddles at Jacob’s Beach in Guilford. I gave it a whirl last year and it’s much easier than it looks and ridiculously ZEN! Find out more here:

Blissworks Yoga of New London offers Monday and Wednesday evening classes at Harkness at 6:45pm through Labor Day. For more info:

Head to Stonington Vineyards for Yoga with the Winemaker! Yoga in the vines is held every Thursday except July 4th at 5:15pm. More info here:

Ken Law teaches an all level flow class at Saltwater Farm Vineyard, Wednesday mornings at 9:45. Try AcroYoga and Slacklining on Saturday, July 20th at a workshop with Ken on the Guilford Green from 9:30 to 11:30.  $25 Pre-register / $30 drop in. Contact Ken for more info at
