Studio 80 Sculpture Grounds
It’s easy to shoot right by the sign that leads to Studio 80. But don’t. Head down the drive to this five-acre landscaped park and have a walk through and around the 100 contemporary works installed here. This is the vision of local artist Gilbert Boro, and he’s opened his grounds and to the public. The studio is usually open, too, and you’ll likely catch Gilbert and his assistants at work on the large scale pieces. It’s a must-see on any art tour of Old Lyme.

Lyme Academy Art Store
I don’t know about you, but I love the smell of oil paint (the relic of growing up with an artist for a father) and if a trip to the Flo Gris has inspired you to pick up a brush, head a few doors down to the Art Shop at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts. This little nook sells everything an artist requires, from canvases and drawing pads, to hand mixed oils and watercolors.

Old Lyme Seafood
Do you have to be a CT native to salivate over the annual appearance of shad and roe? Maybe…if you are, head straight to Old Lyme Seafood this minute for piles of the precious stuff. Me, I’m a regular for the Wild Salmon and smoked-on-the-premises trout, salmon and bluefish. You’ll always find a hot soup simmering, like their famous RI clam chowder or lobster bisque. The mini cups of shrimp cocktail are a great idea for Paleo peeps or dieters, and come summertime, stop by for a hot or cold lobster roll. We love that they list the provenance of all their catch, too.
