Set Your Summer Table with Saar

I’m a sucker for block-printed fabrics; must be my Cambridge upbringing when virtually everything was covered in Indian prints, including me. The handmade nature of these prints has never gone out of fashion, and it’s stronger than ever these days. Maybe it’s the current distaste for mass production and a return to hand-crafted goods, but I’m glad of it and happy to find a local producer right here in Connecticut!

Saar Lifestyle is a collection of home goods and clothing in lively block prints. The designs are mainly created by partners Zeel and Kelly and then shipped off to Bombay where the process begins. The blocks are carved, dyes mixed by hand, and the products are hand-sewn by a consortium of artisans.

The lovely well-priced collection is mix and match. You can choose identical prints for your tablecloths, runners, napkins and throw pillows or easily mix them within a color palette (as we’ve done here).

We think any of the pieces would make a happy hostess gift (especially the collection of boxed cocktail napkins),  but if you’re looking to update your table for summer entertaining, check out Saar’s newly launched site.  Good to know: we’re big fans of their easy, breezy cotton printed clothing, too, coming soon to their website and also available at the Chester Fair on August 23rd.
