The Lighthouse Suite at Saybrook Point Inn

One of the more unusual accommodations on the Shoreline is a sweet suite on the mouth of the Sound.  A short walk (or cruise with bikes provided) down the marina dock and you’ll find yourself surrounded 360 degrees by water. The Lighthouse Suite on the second floor of the Harbormaster is a perfect romantic getaway (albeit it sleeps up to four) and comes with a galley kitchen, living area with pull out, full bath, king bed and sliver of balcony to take in the sweeping views.

The overall feeling is you’re world’s away, but close enough to Fresh Salt to head over for a hot lobster roll and housemade chips. While you can hole up in the suite and order room service, you might want to spend an afternoon at the Saybrook Point Inn’s freshly renovated spa, Sanno, for an organic facial or detox wrap. Me, I’d plotz myself on the chaise lounge in front of the French doors and make pretend I live on my own private island. From $449.  www.saybrook.com
