The Wireless, A Sailboat Airbnb

Maybe you’re on the hunt for an unusual family getaway, or you’ve just had enough house guests for the season and you’re ready to stash them elsewhere. Well, I just checked out a new Airbnb that’s a unique addition to places to stay on the Shoreline. Mystic Seaport is renting out one of their own fleet! This 85 foot vessel doesn’t leave the dock, but it is ship-shape and comfortable for up to six passengers in four cabins (and three heads – the spacious Queen master even has a small bathtub!). The boat is quite grand, with plenty of room for relaxing on the teak deck overlooking Mystic River, and a spacious main cabin below deck, lined with cozy couches. Imagine waking up in a quiet (and empty) Mystic Seaport and gazing at the gulls while drinking your coffee.

The galley is set up with fridge, microwave and coffemaker for meals and snacks, or it’s easy to slip across the way to the Seaport’s Bake Shop for breakfast treats and have lunch or dinner on site at Latitude 41, or walk 10 minutes to town to the Oyster Club or Engine Room (or any of our other rated Mystic restaurants; click here) for dinner.

While you’re on the boat, admission to the Seaport is included and you and family can spend the day wandering the dozens of houses in this recreated 19th century seafaring village. Save time for a planetarium show, a visit to the Maritime Gallery and a sea shanty sing-a-long!

The boat stays at anchor, but make use of the Seaport’s onsite fleet: rent a rowboat or go for a day sail.

Good to know: $400 per night with discounts for longer stays. 2 night minimum, all your basic needs are on board and laundry is available at the Seaport. Picnic baskets available to order from Coastal Gourmet.

Check the website for a myriad of exhibits, outdoor concerts and boat shows happening this summer at The Seaport.
