Vision Boards for Your Future Self

In keeping with our quest for well-being, we asked local Personal Growth Coach, Meredith Newman, for a tutorial and tips for building a vision board. Her idea, to create a board centered on the future (once we can travel and congregate), was an inspiring one! Here’s a short video on how to get started:

Vision boards are not only a fun, creative activity, but they really work! Putting the goals you crave for your life down on paper is a powerful way to manifest your intentions and support your vision.

Find a quiet place without distractions to work. Before you begin, close your eyes, maybe light your favorite candle and think about what you want for yourself – for your work, your family, your connections. What are you genuinely wishing to show up in your life? This can be a vision for the next month, the next season, or the next year.

Be sure to put your vision board in a place that you can see every day to stay connected to what you are putting out into the universe or want to invite into your life. If you don’t feel comfortable sharing this with your family members or housemates, create a board inside your journal or daily planner.

Supplies you’ll need:

  • Magazines – if you don’t have any, go to any bookstore or shop in your area and purchase some good ones that you love (once you clip all of the pictures, find a folder to keep your images you didn’t use for your next vision board)
  • Cards that have been given to you with images that you like
  • Quotes that speak to you
  • Glue stick or clear tape
  • Scissors
  • Poster Board/journal/daily planner pages

Think color and vibrancy! You do not need to be an artist for this project. Stay open and curious about what comes up for you when you look through your materials and when you think about what you want in your life. The most important thing here is to HAVE FUN. This can also be a fun activity to do with the kids!
