What’s Up at White Gate Farm

A sure sign of spring is the re-opening of the stand at White Gate Farm, and I headed over last Saturday to stock up on their famous gluten-free breakfast cookies and see what else was in store. A traipse to the farm stand is somewhat of a weekend ritual for me, and by the looks of it, lots of other organic-seeking folks. The produce pickings are limited this time of year, but bags of mixed salad greens, spinach, and fat carrots beckoned. You’ll find lots of fingerlings, onion, shallots, and garlic, too, but the new big draw is the groaning board spread with all manner of baked goodies, both savory and sweet. I snagged a fruit tart, a hefty chunk of potato, feta and kale frittata (which saw me through several lunches) and aforementioned breakfast cookies (which freeze well, so stock up!).  I suggest signing up for their newsletter so you’ll know what’s on the menu and upcoming farm dinners and classes: a family-style Winter Feast in the farmhouse on March 8th and. Bread Basics with Lesley Moore is on March 11th. Find out more.
