We’ve discovered the perfect pick-me-up for that summer afternoon hour when it’s a tad early for a cocktail and just too late for a cold brew. Whole Harmony Apothecary in Haddam whips up two refreshing herbal elixers in a bottle: Lavender Lemonade and Goji Berry Raspberry Iced Tea. They’re full of fresh flavor, not too sweet and sort of addictive. Stock your fridge. These pretty bottles make a thoughtful host gift (especially for those who don’t drink alcohol) at $5.99 each.

Whole Harmony Apothecary is located (in Tylerville) in Haddam in an 1850’s home. Over 30 tea blends are offered, carefully balanced by owners and herbalists Stacy Wood and David Soule. Sip your tea in the quiet library or choose a melange of leaves to go. Besides tea, there’s a little something for everything that ails you in the form of supplements, flower essences, herbal remedies, Himalayan salt lamps and more.

Standouts for us were: Folk Fyre (for digestion) – a handcrafted blend of horseradish, ginger, habanero (and lots more) steeped in apple cider vinegar for 6 weeks intended to stoke your digestive fire. Sugar overload? Try their Cut The Sh*! Tea made from ginger, orange peel, rose petals.
