I had an impromptu spa day last week that involved numerous, indulgent-feeling treatments and ended in a Himalayan salt cave. Needless to say, I never wanted to leave! The freshly renovated space just off of Route 1 on River Street in Guilford is owned and operated by Theresa Cleary, who has a strong history in the beauty, cosmetics, and wellness industries. Open since June, the spa offers an array of innovative treatments in addition to facials and massage, from Hydrotherapy (jacuzzi) to Halotherapy (dry salt therapy), infrared sauna, and Cryotherapy.

I first experienced a relaxing, exfoliating full body scrub followed by a delightful shower and a body butter massage to help seal in the moisture. I continued on into Teresa’s extremely capable hands in her facial room and was treated to her signature Holistic Cool Restore Cryotherapy Facial. Rounds of cleaning, massaging and masking with intoxicatingly and naturally scented Dermalogica products were followed by an extremely cold (3 degrees!) cryogenic facial massage known to help reduce redness, inflammation, and improve elasticity and texture. My skin looked noticeably fresh and vibrant after this treatment. My retreat ended with a private, gentle yoga and meditation session with local yogi, Erin Schuster, in the salt cave, a peaceful, private room, containing over 35,000 pounds of pink Himalayan salt. This form of salt therapy is said to help “deliver antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties which can improve your immune system and respiratory system”.
