New Digs for Old Beautiful

129 West Main Street, Clinton

The vibrant antiques scene that existed on the Shoreline a decade ago has been steadily dwindling due to eBay and 1st dibs, but there’s still a handful of lovely shops around. One of our favorites, Old Beautiful, has moved to bigger digs in an antique Greek Revival house in Clinton. Poke around in here and you’ll find plenty of goodies for the holiday table: stacks of ironstone plates and soup tureens, shelves of copper molds and pewter chargers, lots of assorted pressed glass goblets (I’d love a dozen of these in mis-matched shapes and sizes), flint glass decanters and cabinets bursting with earthenware. Owner David Perrelli specializes in pre-civil war American antiques and his eye for unusual early portraits and gangly-legged side tables is spot on.
