Picture this: waves gently lapping the shore, a soft breeze lightly scented with beach plums, and ME gazing out at the horizon in tree pose. If you have trouble quieting your mind during yoga, then this is the class for you! One of my favorite yoga teachers, Petra Axlund (yes, I KNOW there are quite a few of you), teaches an all-levels flow class on Mercy Center’s glorious private beach in Madison. I made it to class on Saturday morning and I can’t think of a better way to start the weekend. Take your practice out-of-doors this summer with my list of field, farm, beach and vineyard yoga:

Beach Yoga at Chaffinch Island Park in Guilford on Saturdays at 9am starting on July 11th.

Beach Yoga with Petra Axlund at the Mercy Center in Madison. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday at 9:30am. $15 drop in, $9 students and active military. Bring a mat or towel. Please note there is no class June 18th and June 20th.

Lisa Nasser teaches Yoga In The Field at Ashlawn Farm before the Lyme Farmer’s Market every Saturday from 8am – 9am. Code word Namaste gets you a free coffee after. Bring your mat and $15.

Essex Wellness Center provides FREE yoga classes on the lawn at the CT River Museum, every Friday (weather permitting) from 8:30 to 9:30. Sign up required: Plus a new session of outdoor Tai Chi starts on July 2nd.

Yoga at Harkness Park on Wednesday evenings at 6:45 with Tricia McAvoy of Blissworks. $12 drop in.

Vinyasa in the Vineyard at Chamard on some Thursdays. Sign up required.

Outdoor Yoga and Meditation at The Florence Griswold Museum, for all ages (10 – 100!) and body types. Sundays July 12 – August 30, 2 – 3pm.

SUP Yoga & Fitness on the water at Black Hall Outfitters, Old Lyme.

SUP Yoga, Paddlefit and full moon paddles at Downdog Paddle in Guilford.

Yoga on LaSalle: West Hartford Yoga brings yoga to the street for this joyous community event with live music on July 25th at 8am. Free.

Full Moon Yoga at the Ocean House to benefit Recovery Yoga on August 2nd at 7:30pm, with Will Evans performing live.
