Petra Star, Sustainable and Vintage Jewels

Nothing excites me more than discovering a new(ish) shop with an enthusiastic owner and fascinating inventory. Petra Star in Mystic is precisely that. After 30 years in the jewelry industry on both coasts, owner Dimitria Koumarnetos landed on the Shoreline and opened this gem. Her specialty is sustainable artisan and fine antique jewelry.
We were (literally) dazzled by the diamonds, mainly reworked antiques, one-of-a-kind necklaces, bracelets, and rings, and a collection of unusual antique gold charms, ready to be strung on a chain or bracelet.
Dimitria reimagines old stones into new settings, and she has a distinct point of view; everything is tasteful and elegant. Also on hand are several collections by local jewelers and “permanent” jewelry. While we were there, a mother/daughter team was having anklets fastened (available in 14K gold, sterling silver, and gold-filled) to celebrate a milestone. It’s a beautiful shop, and Demetria is wonderfully knowledgeable and fun. If you’re searching for something unique for yourself or a loved one, Petra Star is a must-stop.
