A proper bra fitting has been on my to-do list for at least a decade but a schlep to the few and far-flung professionals just never materialized. When Libby Basile founder and owner of online intimate apparel retailer Filly Rose announced her monthly pop-ups on the shoreline, I signed right up. One visit with Libby and my ill-fitting-bra issues were solved!

Libby started out writing for trade magazines for the intimate apparel industry in NYC in the early 2000’s when Victoria Secret was promoting its “sexy angels” campaign. After years in the business that led to her most recent run as Editor in Chief of The Lingerie Journal, (an online publication for intimate apparel), Libby has seen a bit of a shift. Her experience at TLJ led her to brands that were women-owned, designed, and produced for women. She told me, “I saw the conversation start to change from ‘lingerie as something that seduces’ to ‘lingerie is something you wear for yourself’ and I was able to help share that message through the publication. I knew too many people, myself included, who had spent too much time in old bras that didn’t fit well or were too old and no longer serving us. I already knew I could do better for myself, and I hoped that through my writing I could encourage others to do the same”.

Lucky for us Libby is popping up with her bra library at Willow Salon in Guilford on the first Sunday of each month. This fresh, inviting beauty and wellness center owned by Catie Bane operates as a hair salon and global goods boutique during the week and hosts Self Care Sundays on weekends. The bra fitting process here is easy. Libby will measure you in the private dressing room and help you pick styles from her collection to try on.
