I Used To Be A Cool Mom

Up until just a few weeks ago, I was the “cool  mom”. Mind you, this had nothing to do with allowing late curfews or a permissive attitude. It was all about my clothes. The label had its advantages and I have a career in fashion to thank. My daughter still wants my opinion on what to wear, which is rather unusual for a 19-year-old. Recently I found her in my closet with the door closed. She said she was “shopping”. Okay, that’s a drawback, but other than that I’ve enjoyed the title. It’s flattering. I liked being the “cool mom”. I never resorted to Mommy Jeans, I still wear heels, and for a middle-aged lady, while I’m not exactly trendy, I try to remain stylish. What all this means is, I haven’t thrown in the towel. But then I bought a pair of Skechers Go Walks and my cool mom title was summarily yanked. Yup, they’re kind of ugly (I prefer non-descript). But the squishy sole and stretchy upper keep me light on my feet all day long. They weigh, I dunno, maybe one ounce. They’re ridiculously packable. AND they are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. If you ever had Crocs, you know what I’m talking about. They come in a variety of ugly colors and styles, but I’ve stuck with basic black. And to save a bit of face, I cut off the Skechers tag. But just in case they discontinue them anytime soon, I’m gonna get me another pair. Maybe two. Skechers.com
