A few weeks ago, I was asked by CTvisit.com to do a social media takeover during CT Open House Day (which meant I spent most of my time struggling with hashtags!), but I had a blast playing tourist in my own town(s).  My itinerary began with a serene morning boat ride on RiverQuest (note to self: rent for next big birthday bash!), then on to Gillette’s crazy Castle and a snoop backstage at the Ivoryton Playhouse. My last stop was at Spectrum Gallery in Centerbrook. I was wowed by the inventory in this airy shop. You’ll find plenty of interesting works in a variety of mediums (ceramics, glass, painting and photography) and I was super impressed with the in-depth selection of jewelry from mainly local makers. Spectrum Gallery is an offshoot of the non-profit Arts Center Killingworth and purchases provide funds for the programs and exhibits there. Arts Center Killingworth offers various workshops for adults and summer camps for kids: upcoming is Fashion Week and Nature Art for Young Artists.

Water, Water Everywhere, a new exhibit at Spectrum, includes works featuring water as a nurturer, challenge or element of beauty, opening on July 22, 2016.
